The Maricopa County Animal Shelter is full for the first time!

This is a painting I did of a memory from my past. It is from a sight I saw on the grounds of the Santa Clara County (San Jose, CA) animal shelter when I worked there as an impressionable 14 year-old in 1972.

When I read the report in today's East Valley Tribune http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/147241
about the shelter being full for the first time, all I could think about was this old, but never forgotten memory.

Can we ever erase the realization that we have not learned anything since 1972?

Please friends, ask everyone you know, or don't know to adopt these animals instead of buying from a breeder or pet shop. Ask everyone you know, or don't know to never get a pet as a gift, which will likely be forgotten in the afterglow.

And finally, ask everyone you know, or don't know to not indulge themselves in breeding their animal for any reason. Believe me...none of them are any good. If any of the reasons had any validity would we be in the same spot we were in in 1972?

ok, we have to brainstorm and think outside of the box to educate people and help the animals. The rescues in town are great, but the problem starts before there. We need to help educate the public, think of ideas. i think we can team up and make a difference!
